Helpful Tools for Custom Board Building

Roarockit offers a variety of custom tools to level up your board building process. These tools can help make your process easier, faster, and more accurate. Learn about these tools and how they can be used in each step of the board building process.

Step 1: Design

Designing your board is the most time-consuming part of the process. This is where you get to make the decisions on how you want your custom board to look, feel, and function. The best part about building a custom board from scratch is that you don’t have to compromise on any of the details, you can build it to your exact specifications!

Curvy

Curvy Drawing Template

use this to design your paper template or draw the shape right onto your board! draw the radius of a skateboard wheel well or profile curve

Curvy Large Drawing Template

need bigger curves? use our giant french curve for more options when designing your custom board

Step 2: Foam Mold

To some, shaping your own custom foam mold can be the most daunting part of the process. We have some tools to help make it easier! If you don’t want to shape your own custom foam mold, consider one of our Multiboard Kits or one of our Pro-Foam Collab Kits.

Mold Master

Edging Tool

Edging Tool

use this to shape your foam mold! we recommend this over a power tool, as it helps prevent you from removing too much material too quickly

Step 3: Glue-Up

Getting your board into the Thin Air Press in time can sometimes be challenging. Glue dries quickly especially when spread onto thirsty veneer sheets, which can make or break a board.

Glue Applicator

gluing up multiple boards? use this for a speedy application! this glue applicator coats each sheet quickly and evenly which helps prevent those bubbles and voids

STEP 4: Shaping

Cutting out and shaping your boards can be done in a huge variety of ways! Whether you use a jigsaw, bandsaw, or even a handsaw, you have full control over the shape of your board! These are some tools that can help make the process easier.

Rockit SawKit

this jigsaw attachment pivots on one point, allowing you to follow the contours of your board while cutting! it also comes with our favourite blade for cutting out boards

Drop Through Template

Drop Through Template

want to build a drop through board? create your cutouts with accuracy and ease using this router template

Rockit Trimit

round over your rails using this specialized router bit! this double-bearing bit allows you to follow the contours of even the most dramatic kick-tails

Profile Scraper

this custom shaped card scraper makes finishing your rails a breeze!

STEP 5: Truck Holes

Make it easy to find your centre line, mark truck hole patterns and distances, and draw long straight lines with a RockitRuler! These rulers bend along the 3-dimensional shapes of your skateboard. Available in stainless steel and plastic, New School and Old School (the full 6 hole pattern is located at the end of each ruler), choose one based on your personal preference!

New School RockitRuler

our tempered stainless steel rulers are durable and strong

Old School RockitRuler

building longboards? consider the old school version

RockitRulerFlex New School

light and flexible, the see-through plastic version of the ruler is a great choice

RockitRulerFlex Old School

prefer old school longboard trucks? check this one out! bends around radical curves for marking lines
