Skateboard Building Workshop at Hillside Festival

We had a great time at Hillside Festival in Guelph, Ontario this weekend! We hosted two skateboard build sessions in the DIY tent, alongside other wonderful workshops teaching skills like macrame, bookbinding, and more!

Participants learned how to build a skateboard from scratch using Canadian maple veneer, vacuum lamination, and hand tools! We discovered how you can bend wood using atmospheric pressure and learned woodworking techniques while seeing how flat sheets of wood veneer turn into a fully finished and rideable skateboard. Participants took home a mini skateboard shaped wood veneer with their own graphic!

“The Hillside Community Festival is a not-for-profit music festival that celebrates creativity through artistic expression, community engagement, and environmental leadership.”

Happy Hillside!
