Builder Profile: S-Tier Skateboards

Hi Evan! How are you today? Can you tell me a little about S-Tier Skateboards?

S-Tier Skateboards is my brand that I created in 2022. S-Tier skateboards is more directed to downhill and longboard style decks as that is the style of board that I used to love when I was a rider myself.

What got you into building boards? How long have you been building?

I was extremely into downhill skateboarding and longboarding in my late teens and early 20’s and I wanted to start building my own decks so that I could create the exact board that I wanted. I have been building decks for around 7 years now and finally felt confident enough in my abilities to start selling decks.

What inspires you to create your boards?

The fun part about designing downhill skateboards and longboards is that they come in an assortment of different styles, shapes, and materials used to build the decks. Unlike regular street style skateboards that have the perfected popsicle stick shape for that style of riding - when designing longboards and downhill decks, you can be a lot more creative and unique with the amount of features, shapes, and styles of boards that you can create, as well as the materials used to make those decks.

Do you skate? How long have you been skating?

I am not as much of an extreme rider as I used to be due to various injuries that I sustained during my downhill skateboarding days, however I still ride around as more of a means of transportation. Collectively I’ve probably been skating for over a decade. You don't quit skateboarding because you get old, you get old because you quit skateboarding.

How do you use Roarockit products in the making of your boards? How did you find out about us?

I currently use and have been using the Roarockit Thin Air Press to create custom skateboard decks for years now. I learned about Roarockit when I started researching the different methods of DIY skateboard building and found that the Roarockit headquarters was a local business in my area. I bought a Thin Air Press Kit, a blank mold, and some veneer and created my first custom mold and pressed my first deck.  After realizing how easy it could be for me to create the exact boards that I wanted, I was hooked and I’ve been building boards ever since.

Any advice for aspiring board builders and woodworkers out there?

Don’t be discouraged by setbacks and always try to learn from your mistakes. Learn to understand why something went wrong and come up with ways to prevent those mistakes in the future. If you want to learn absolutely anything about woodworking and board building then that information can be found online, you just have to know how to look for it.

If people wanted to find out more about your boards. Where can they see your creations and contact you?

I post pictures and specs of all my boards on Instagram @STierSkateboards.

Thanks again for your time Evan, any last words for the readers back home?

Do what you love, it’s a short ride.
