Marquetry Workshop at Hillside Festival
We had an amazing time at Hillside Festival in Guelph, Ontario this weekend! We hosted two marquetry sessions in the DIY tent, alongside other wonderful workshops teaching skills like cross-stitch, cyanotype printing, and more!
Marquetry is the art of creating decorative designs with thin pieces of colored wood. Participants learned how you can "paint with wood" by using basic marquetry techniques to combine pieces of dyed Canadian maple veneer to form a design. While creating art with wood we discussed woodworking techniques including vacuum bagging, assembly, and finishing. Participants took home their own handmade Hillside-themed wooden keychain!
